Every piece comes with a manual—detailing how the product was made and providing the instructions for creating it yourself. These manuals are also available for free on their website, and all design IP is shared openly.
For AW24, Middle Distance introduces its standout piece—the Fog Jacket. A 100% waterproof and breathable jacket, the Fog Jacket marries high-performance design with artisanal craftsmanship. Developed in collaboration with Dimpora AG, a Swiss textile lab, the jacket’s next-generation 3L laminate fabric is free from PFCs and forever chemicals, ensuring top-notch performance while minimising environmental impact. Durability is built into every thread, with the jacket’s fabric backed by a nylon tricot mesh for extra resilience.
What makes the Fog Jacket truly unique is the Irish Linen used as the face fabric, a nod to ancient textile traditions. This linen, cultivated and manufactured in Ireland, is hand-dyed in Glasgow using natural dyes like sumac, black walnut, and Madder—a dye that dates back to ancient civilisations, including Egypt and Norse cultures. The result is a ‘haze’ shade of linen that carries the marks and character of the artisanal dyeing process, making each piece one of a kind.
Middle Distance products are made in small quantities to ensure the highest standards of quality. The pieces are assembled in Scotland at a factory credited with inventing the seam sealing machine—further ensuring the brand’s commitment to functional, durable outerwear.
